KwaZulu Natal Home of the Zulu Nation
KwaZulu-Natal KwaZulu Natal Home of the Zulu Nation is one of the nine provinces of South Africa on the north-eastern seaboard alongside the warm Indian Ocean.
The province is considered the home of the Zulu nation and Zululand is the home to the current Zulu monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.

- Two of the nine South African World Heritage Sites are in the province, iSimangaliso Wetland Park (Greater St Lucia) and Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, the mountainous “Barrier of Spears.”
- KwaZulu Natal games reserves, many having the Big 5, are renowned throughout the world particularly Imfolozi-Hluhluwe and Hilltops camp. Tembe Elepant Park in the north has large herds of elephants, home of the big tuskers. Whale watching and turtle tours are popular seasonal experiences.
- The Anglo Zulu War took place here as did many Anglo Boer War and Zulu-Boer skirmishes, most notably the Battle of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.

- The Zulu name for Durban is Thekwini, meaning “The Place Where the Earth and the Ocean Meet”. The tourism slogan for this vibrant city is “Durban Has More” and it certainly does with stunning beaches, sports facilities, entertainment and a wide selection of accommodation.

- Kasi township culture is strong where you can experience local Zulu food and shisa nyama or kota. A new dynamic contemporary music genre has emerged from KwaZulu Natal called gqom.
- The large population of Indians who are the descendants of sugar cane labourers, as a result of Indian Indenture, add a different cultural mix to the province. The notoriously famous ‘bunny chow”, based on bread and Durban curry has become synonymous with KwaZulu Natal fusion cuisine.
- Sizzle City Richards Bay in the heart of Zululand boasts the biggest multi-bulk export harbor in South Africa. The Richards Bay Port Festival and Umhlathuze Beach Party are popular annual entertainment events.
