- 1 January (Tues): New Year’s Day
- 21 March (Thur): Human Rights Day – Commemoration to remind South Africans about the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for the fulfillment of democracy in South Africa.
- 19 April (Fri): Good Friday – Holiday based on lunar calendar and date changes yearly.
- 22 April (Mon): Family Day – Holiday based on lunar calendar and date changes yearly.
- 27 April (Sat): Freedom Day – Celebration of South Africa’s first non-racial democratic elections of 1994.
- 1 May (Wed): Workers’ Day – Observed much like May Day, where it serves to pay homage to the working class of the nation.
- 8 May (Wed): Voting Day in South Africa
- 16 June (Sun): Youth Day – The countries reflection on the massacre of school children during the Soweto Uprising of 1976.
- 17 June (Mon): Public holiday – As Youth Day falls on a Sunday.
- 9 August (Fri): National Women’s Day – Commemoration of the 1956 march of about 20,000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country’s pass laws
- 24 September (Tue): Heritage Day – Recognition and celebration of the cultural wealth of our nation.
- 16 December (Mon): Day of Reconciliation – Intention to foster reconciliation and national unity. Historically “Day of the Vow” or King Shaka Day in KwaZulu-Natal.
- 25 December (Wed): Christmas Day – Celebration of the birth of Jesus.
- 26 December (Thu): Day of Goodwill – Allows many people to give back to society after the Christmas holiday. Previously known as Boxing Day.
